President Donald Trump suggested Monday that the United States could pay a “small fee” to foreign countries to imprison Americans who are repeat criminal offenders, floating a kind of modern-day penal colony.
Trump billed the idea as a cost-saving measure in remarks at a conference for House Republicans in Miami.
“If they’ve been arrested many, many times, they’re repeat offenders by many numbers, I want them out of our country,” he said. “We’re going to get approval, hopefully, to get them the hell out of our country, along with others — let them be brought to a foreign land and maintained by others for a very small fee.”
Trump said doing so would allow the federal government to avoid using U.S. jails “for massive amounts of money” and private prisons, which he said “charge us a fortune.”
Maybe I should be sent to a foreign penal colony. I have only one single MISDEMEANOR conviction in my entire life, and yet I REMAIN at Tier 3 on California’s wonderful tiered registry. What the hell, send me away! What difference does it make anymore since it seems obvious to me that nothing’s going to change in California to help me.
This guy is clinically insane! Isn’t this basically human trafficking? Paying foreign countries to abuse U.S. citizens. I have 78 days before I petition. I can only hope he stays distracted in LALA Land long enough for me to get off and clear out. I’ve sold about 60% of my possessions and only have my car now as a big ticket item. If they decide to move the finish line on us, I can’t be responsible for my next choice of action.
This purpose of “Penal Colonies” has always been…
Forced Labor! “Pay for your upkeep with labor… or be sent somewhere else… or maybe we just let you die.” Forced Labor is the purpose of making Colonies, Penal. If people want to move there, why send all your prisoners there? If Paradise Island becomes part of your Empire, why load it up with “Dangerous criminals”?
This is how they will pay for all the tariffs? Create Forced Labor camps, somewhere in the world? Somewhere not too far away? Perhaps in the 51st State of Canada? The Overseas Dependency of Greenland? The Colonial Provence of Mexico? Maybe all of them?
It will start with… the one group of American Citizens it is already legal to banish away to wherever you want…but then it will move to the current repeat customers at the prisons? Maybe the other way around, but these will be the first two groups?
Eventually getting to the “Drug Zombies” Musk sees all over our streets?
Time to try convincing certain nations that allowing PFRs to immigrate there and contribute to their economy, is better for them then letting this happen? Perhaps find Nations that may really, really need more people soon and explain to them what this is all aboot, eh?
Option #1: Let us come there and assist you in all of your nation’s efforts.
Option #2: We get sent to the penal Colonies and forced to work to make Trump and friends wealthier, and more powerful?
Which option sounds better to you, eh?
Sounds like Australia possibly since they have the history of it? Oh wait, we’re not allowed in and they don’t let their’s travel out.
I’d be concerned if punishment is complete but still on the registry. I can see eventually the gov getting round to exporting everyone on the registry.
I guess you’ll now need a passport & expensive plane ticket to visit your loved one in jail. Oh….and maybe a little knowledge of the local language
Well….. Wisconsin considers my 10 counts of possession on one conviction, to be repeat offenses. So would I now qualify to be removed from this country?? Being a person with repeat offenses in Wisconsin I get lifetime GPS bracelet! And $240 a month fee…..for life!
Sounds like offshoring American jobs. What a hypocritical windbag.
We’re either going to be:
Repatriated in the newly coined “Gulf of America.”
Sent to work / concentration camps in Alaska
Sent to Greenland to mine Lithium for the billionaires.
This idea interests Trump because he can pay prison guards in these countries $200 per month to work 60 hour weeks.
Interestingly, I read this morning Sweden is looking to do this same thing.
